I’ve moved

A can of worms

Finally taken the plunge-I’ve ordered a wormery! I’ve wanted one for ages and after a natter with a friend this afternoon I decided to go for it-my parents will of course think I’m mad.

We’re trying to go green as much as practically and financially possible- we need another 2 water butts and a compost bin yet. for some reason DH wouldn’t empty out mine and bring it when we moved house!

I decided to take the day off today-so got more of the jungle hacked back- the hedge was 7ft deep in places then had a coffee with a friend and then made a few cards-all in all a nice relaxing day

This si for the Daring Cardmakers mid week challenge-it had to be stripey and dotty.

Then I made a couple for the Caardvarks challenge-which had to use fibre

For a change I have no cards I need to make so it was nice just to make a few for “in case” the need arises. Its either that or more Christmas cards and I really don’t feel right making them in August-even if it does feel like November outside today

A bit of this and that

I’ve just loaded some photos from the camera, a right mixed bag!

First we have my new pet- Freddie the frog-he hopped across in front of me this morning in the garden. We used to live at the back of town-up near the fields. But its weird, we are down much nearer the centre of town, yet becuase we have lots of trees here and no cats we get lots and lots of birds-and for some reason frogs and toads!

Then I had a picture of me and DH from the HMSA black tie ball at the weekend

Finally a card!! Mel challenged me to make a card using a stamp-not much of a challenge you’d think except I have hundreds and never use them except for the challenges on Carolyns forum-or the occasional sentiment on a card. So I went wild and crazy and used a swirl-oh and the obligatory sentiment stamp! They are stamped on acetate with Stazon, my first attempt-hence you can see the reflection of my hands on the card.

Thats all folks! Hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend

two more challenges done!

Another 2 cards for the challenges on Bex’s forum

It seems I’m off work again tomorrow. I got bitten on sunday by a bug or spider and it seems I now have 2 infections in my foot-so feet up for a couple of days. I’m hoping to get a few more challenges covered, and a few more cards off my to-do list!

It also means the man can now come tomorrow to try to put us a Sky dish up- 2 sky engineers have tried and failed so far so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Nothing fun to report-except I’ve had a new order for cuttlebug embossing dies arrive-all I have to do now is find where DH has packed the Big Shot and I’m ready to play. As you’ve probaby guessed by this, we are now not moving this friday ;-(

I’m really hoping it will be next friday

Sorry-Kathy you asked about the metal I used in the cards for the last post-I can’t find the packaging but it was thinnish metal sheets, i have a feeling I bought them from a local art shop years ago. I must get some more, they woked so well with the cuttlebug embossing dies. I must see if they work on funky foam too.

My littlest sister has asked me to make all her cards from now on-I feel really touched she trusts me enough just to give me a list and let me get on with it

She asked for quite a selection of different occasions this month-so I started with an acceptance for a naming ceremony

file0178.jpg

I do love those little teddies-I think they were from Lakeland. then it was on to a couple of blokes cards-so I managed to sneak in one for the Daring Cardmakers friday challenge.

file0179.jpg

The embossed Birthday on metal was done with the big cuttlebug embossing die-cut out and aged with Stazon. I found a couple of sheets of thin metal in the drawer so cutit all up and embossed it last night in the theory it might actually get used that way!

I’m off to make a couple more for her-I’ve just got some gorgeous Bazzill Bling-but its too nice to cut so no way is she having any of that-I *may* break into it for Nicky’s CJ at the weekend though

I also have to confess to some more shopping-I was stressed this afternon(problems with the house move) and Dollydimple talked me into it-so a few more cuttlebug embossing folders are winging there way to me

Daring cardmakers challenges

I got both challenges done this week- the Celestial one was such a simple card but I love the colour combination-decided to go with stars, its for an 11year old. I do alot of space design cards for younger boys already

will.jpg

the midweek challenge was Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

The something old was the quickutz die, something new was the ribbon, something borrowed was the little flowers pinched from Mum, and something blue was the card. Its not your traditional wedding card-but she isn’t a pale pink and flowery type girl

Sorry no new cards to report-been a busy weekend with friends over and clearing the loft to move.

But I have some good news-a parenting website, www.familyrapp.co.uk is going to run a competition-with 5 of my cards as the prize!!

So I’ve been busy trying to tidy up the website for all the new visitors (I hope) Its like having your mother in law over, you want everything to look neat and tidy hehehehe.

The lovely Andra over at Wildflower stamps has kindly said I can use her stamps on my cards for the site too-she is sooo talented, I love the $1 range and the new distressed sunflower. So tonight there may be a few new cards to go on here at last!

the big challenge

ta.jpg

My first card for the Big Challenge at Carolyns- very, very simple, but I like the colours.

I plan to do a mini book about our house, its our first home together an we are moving soon so I’d like something as a reminder of where we started out to look back on in the years to come.

I’ve fixed the lightbox so I now have no excuse not to finish the wedding invitations.

Had a bit of good news today (not telling yet) but it means I need to do some more work to my website over the weekend to spruce it up a bit, and add some more girl’s birthday cards-might try a couple of shallenges for inspiration-boys are sooo much easier!!

I have a busy weekend planned though so not sure how much time I’ll have to sneak up here and craft-bad timing with the challenge weekend, hopefully I can catch up a bit in the week

Boxes packed for the move = 4
